About Solmi Kim
Solmi Kim is a London-based Korean composer and musician, with a focus on film and instrumental music. Her musical journey began early with classical training in instruments and choir. In her twenties, she worked as an actress in South Korea before discovering her passion for music composition, which became her primary focus.
After earning a degree in Music Composition from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2020, Solmi has worked on various projects, from film scores to solo instrumental releases. She collaborates closely with directors on short films, documentaries, and independent productions, enhancing storytelling through music.
Solmiās compositions have earned recognition in international competitions, including a fourth-place finish in Four For Music and third place in the 2022 IFMC Summer competition. Her work has also been featured in award-nominated projects.
Alongside her film work, Solmi has released several EPs, including her debut Standing Still (2023), and She Says, One Day, and Emotional Responses in 2024. These projects blend classical influences with contemporary styles, reaching an expanding audience across streaming platforms.
With a versatile skill set and a strong commitment to her craft, Solmi continues to grow as both a film composer and musician, creating impactful music for diverse creative projects.
